What Are the Application Fields of Electric Actuators?

Electric actuator refers to a drive device that can provide linear or rotary motion. Electric actuators mainly include electric linear actuator, electric rotary actuator, electric rod actuator and spring return electric actuator.

 

There are two basic types of valve operation to consider actuators. Rotary electric valves include plug valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, and dampers or baffles. Multi turn electric valves include straight-through valves (stop valves), gate valves and knife gate valves.

 

Instructions for Selecting Electric Actuators

 

1. Determine the output torque of the electric actuator according to the torque required by the valve.

The torque required for valve opening and closing determines the output torque of the motor operated valve actuator, which is generally proposed by the user or selected by the valve manufacturer. The actuator manufacturer is only responsible for the output torque of the actuator. The torque required for the normal opening and closing of the valve is determined by factors such as the size of the valve and the working pressure. However, due to differences in the processing precision and assembly process of valve manufacturers, the required torque for valves of the same specification produced by different manufacturers are also different. Even the torque of valves of the same specification produced by the same valve manufacturer is different. When selecting the type, if the torque of the actuator is too small, the valve cannot be opened and closed normally, so the keystone electric actuator must select a reasonable torque range.

 

2. Determine the electrical parameters according to the selected electric actuator.

Because the electrical parameters of different actuator manufacturers are different, it is generally necessary to determine the electrical parameters during design and selection. Electrical parameters mainly include motor power, rated current, and secondary control loop voltage. Due to these negligence, the parameters of the control system and the electric actuator do not match, resulting in malfunctions such as air circuit breaker tripping, fuse blown, and thermal overload relay protection tripping during operation.

 

3. There is also an explosion proof electric actuator.

 

In some occasions, electric actuators with explosion-proof grade must be used.

1. Power plant

 

Typical applications include thermal power industry applications and valve actuator applications in other power industries.

 

2. Process control

 

Electric actuators are used for production process control in chemical, petrochemical, mold, food, medicine, packaging and other industries. In these industries, there are many styles of electric actuators, such as long stroke solenoid actuator, electric rack and pinion actuator, rodless electric linear actuator and so on.

 

Specifically, the operator can accurately position, start and stop, open and close, and rotate valves, tools, pipelines, baffles, chutes, platforms, etc., according to established logic instructions or computer programs. The operator uses the temperature, pressure, flow rate, size, radiation, brightness, chromaticity, roughness, density and other real-time parameters detected by the system to adjust the system to realize the control of intermittent, continuous and cyclic processing.

 

3. Industrial automation

 

It is used in a wide range of aviation, aerospace, military, machinery, metallurgy, mining, transportation, building materials, etc., to adjust and control the movement points (moving parts) of various automation equipment and systems.
