Do you know the classification and characteristics of ball valves?

Publish Time: 2021-08-15     Origin: Site

In the previous article, we mainly introduced the basic knowledge and advantages of ball valves. Below we will introduce you to the classification and characteristics of ball valves, hoping to help you better understand ball valves.

Classification and characteristics of ball valves

Ball valves are divided into: floating ball valve, fixed ball valve, orbital ball valve, V-shaped ball valve, three-way ball valve, stainless steel ball valve, forged steel ball valve, ash unloading ball valve, sulfur-resistant ball valve, three-way ball valve, pneumatic ball valve, electric ball valve, card sleeve ball valves, welded ball valves.

Classified by shell/body material, ball valves can be divided into:

1. Metal material valves: such as carbon steel valves, alloy steel valves, stainless steel valves, cast iron valves, titanium alloy valves, Monel valves, copper alloy valves, aluminum alloy valves, lead alloy valves, etc.

2. Metal valve body lining valves: such as rubber-lined valves, fluorine-lined valves, lead-lined valves, plastic-lined valves, and enamel-lined valves.

3. Valves of non-metallic materials: such as ceramic valves, glass valves, and plastic valves.

4. According to the connection mode, it can be divided into: threaded ball valve, flanged ball valve and plate ball valve.

Operation and use of ball valve

1. Make sure that the pipeline and valve have been flushed before operation.

2. The operation of the valve drives the valve stem to complete rotation according to the magnitude of the input signal of the actuator: when it rotates 1/4 turn (90°) in the forward direction, the valve is closed. When reverse rotation 1/4 turn (90°), the valve opens.

3. When the actuator direction indicator arrow is parallel to the pipeline, the valve is open; when the indicator arrow is perpendicular to the pipeline, the valve is closed.

Precautions for the use of ball valve maintenance

If you want the ball valve to have a longer service life and maintenance-free period, you will rely on the following factors: normal working conditions, maintaining a harmonious temperature/pressure ratio, and reasonable corrosion data.

Note:

1. When the ball valve is closed, there is still pressure fluid inside the valve body. Before maintenance, it is necessary to relieve the pipeline pressure and keep the valve in the open position, and disconnect the power or air source. Detach the actuator from the bracket.

2. It is necessary to find out that the upstream and downstream pipelines of the ball valve have indeed relieved the pressure before disassembling. Care must be taken to prevent damage to the sealing surface of parts, especially non-metal parts, when disassembling and reassembling. Special tools should be used when removing O-rings

3. The bolts on the flange must be tightened symmetrically, gradually and evenly during assembly.

4. The cleaning agent should be compatible with the rubber parts, plastic parts, metal parts and working medium in the ball valve. When the working medium is gas, gasoline (GB484-89) can be used to clean metal parts. Clean non-metal parts with pure water or alcohol.

5. Metal chips, fibers, grease, dust and other impurities, foreign matter, etc. should not be allowed to contaminate, adhere or stay on the surface of the parts or enter the cavity during assembly.
